Goals / Objectives
Refine greenhouse methods to evaluate Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus (CLas) tolerance in Florida and California. Apply greenhouse methods to evaluate several cultivars as seedlings for response to Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus (CLas) inoculation. Compare huanglongbing (HLB+) and negative plants for root and shoot growth, symptom development, and CLas titer in shoots and roots. Apply greenhouse methods to evaluate several important scion/rootstock combinations for response to Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus (CLas) inoculation. Use experimental plants to evaluate selected physiological and metabolomics traits that may be associated with disease development and/or tolerance/resistance reaction.

Conduct coordinate greenhouse testing with Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus on a panel of seedling and grafted citrus plants in Florida and California. This will define standardized greenhouse methods that can be broadly applied in different areas to determine relative tolerance of scion and rootstock cultivars to disease infection.
