Goals / Objectives

The objectives for this project will be:

  1. to identify the genetic basis for huanglongbing (HLB) resistance that was previously identified in a set of novel citrus germplasm
  2. develop molecular markers for breeding resistance into commercial varieties; and 3) identify candidate resistance genes to enable alternative biotechnology solutions
Methods (unparsed)

Genetic loci, molecular markers for breeding, and candidate resistance genes will be identified using whole genome sequencing technologies and transcriptome analyses. This will include the use of pooled genome sequencing strategies previously developed by the ARS scientist in peach.
