Goals / Objectives
Establish pathogen tested citrus budwood sources of approximately 50 citrus selections of potentially Huanglongbing (HLB)-tolerant scion and rootstock types in Citrus Clonal Protection Program (CCPP), an National Clean Plant Network (NCPN) Citrus Center.
Methods (unparsed)

1. In Florida, provide to the Citrus Clonal Protection Program (CCPP) greenhouse-grown, previously pathogen-tested citrus budwood of advanced scion and rootstock selections that appear to be less impacted by Huanglongbing (HLB) than other selection and standard cultivars. 2. Initiate shoot-tip grafting for budwood and subsequent pathogen testing of plant material at the CCPP to meet the requirements of the federal rule for the interstate movement of citrus and other rutaceous plants for planting from areas quarantined for Asian citrus psyllid. 3. Establish grafted plants for replicated HLB tolerance field trails in Florida with grower cooperators. Promising scions will be grafted onto promising rootstocks for evaluation in the field. Standard cultivars (Valencia scion on Swingle rootstock (susceptible scion on susceptible rootstock) or Valencia scion on novel rootstock germplasm (susceptible scion on tolerant rootstock) as controls.
