Goals / Objectives
Accelerate the development of new citrus rootstocks with high productivity, good fruit quality, and tolerance to huanglongbing disease and other disease.
Methods (unparsed)
Mass spectrometry-based metabolomics analyses will be performed on rootstock and scion portions of field- and greenhouse grown citrus trees. Metabolite profiles will be correlated with cultivar performance and disease resistance. New candidate rootstocks will be selected based on metabolite profiles. Selections will be planted into replicated field trials, and the best new rootstocks will be released for commercial use.
